Wow, what a season, in fact two seasons! There was an unprecedented format to the 2024/25 season, whereby we had one season during autumn/winter and another at spring/summer time.
This was so that the league could find the correct level of abilities… well they initially got ours wrong!
The autumn season, which consisted of eight games saw us win all but one of those and a single draw, scoring 54 goals and only conceding six! The boys played some amazing football to comfortably win the division and march into division 2 with a spring in our step.
Deep down both Dave and myself were a little nervous about going into division 2 in the second season, but we had nothing to worry about. The boys rose to the challenge by finishing third of eight teams and only narrowly losing a few games by the odd goal. Never once did we feel they were out of their depth and played better football than most of the opposition. It’s crazy to think the level they’ve come from since the start of the season, helped massively by some very shrewd recruitment, for which I can’t take the credit!
They’re an incredible bunch of players, whose biggest strength aside from ability I would have to say is the chemistry and camaraderie between them.
On one hand this proves to be a nightmare to keep them focussed in training but on the plus side it has proven to help them achieve insane levels of consistency and work rate. Regardless of the opposition or score, they are never phased and always have each other’s back.
The chemistry goes way beyond just the players, to the parents as well, who are just a wonderful mix of people. Helped by Saturday football allegiances, the bond they all have is incredible and I am sure along with myself, many of them would consider each other friends for life.
The boys have been fantastic this season, they really have! to get promoted from div 3 with only one draw to then come third in div 2 was mind blowing. both dave and myself are so proud of how hard they work and the chemistry between them is heart warming.
